John is the Branch Manager of the Yorkville Branch. He is also a First Vice-President and Investment Advisor who started his career in the financial services industry in 1985. The basis of John's approach is to thoroughly understand your background and objectives. His goal is to provide you peace of mind, knowing that every available avenue has been thoroughly explored, long before a single proposal is made. The result is solutions that are uniquely suited to you, so that the course you set to achieving your goals is sound. John is able to offer his clients options trading and is also a Life Insurance Advisor with CIBC Wood Gundy, allowing him to better meet your needs, no matter how complex they may be.

For over 15 years, Peter has guided clients through difficult markets with sound investment and wealth management advice. When working with clients, he brings a calm, consultative, and disciplined approach, and pairs it with an outstanding level of client service. This allows him to look after a wide range of clients, from high net worth individuals , to trusts and estates that require tailored portfolio solutions and attention to detail. He is experienced in tough market conditions and has strong relationships with thought leaders throughout the financial services industry, including key analysts and traders, as well as tax, legal and banking professionals who provide unique insights and access to pertinent market information.

Peter graduated from Queen's University with a joint BA/BeD in 1997, and received his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2002. He is well-versed in the advanced principles and practice of modern portfolio theory, which he applies as a licensed Portfolio Manager, one of the investment industry's most coveted titles. He also holds his options license and is a licensed Life Insurance Advisor with CIBC Financial Services Inc.

Outside of business hours, Peter (or "Pete" to those who know him well), his wife Kathleen and their young daughter Gwyneth live an active life, enjoying the outdoors or their family homes on Vancouver Island and in the Collingwood area. Pete is an avid fly fisherman and member of leadership committee of the Nekabong Fishing & Hunting Club, a private club located north of Pembroke that was founded by members of Pete's family in the late 1800s.

Having proven himself essential the Yorkville Branch over the past year as our Branch Administrator, we are excited for our clients to discover Osama's talents for themselves in his new role as our Financial Associate. Osama graduated from the University Of Ontario Institute Of Technology (UOIT) with a Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in finance and with a minor in marketing. Starting as an intern, Osama joined CIBC Wood Gundy in 2011, earning accreditation's such as the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH), and most recently his Wealth Management Essentials (WME). When not in the office, Osama enjoys watching and playing basketball and football, hitting the gym and hanging out with family and friends. If you ever have any questions regarding your investment or planning needs, Osama is both qualified and eager to assist.

Peter Demestihas, PFP, is the Financial Planning Specialist (FPS) for the Yorkville Group. Before joining the Group in January 2014, Peter spent 10 years supporting financial planning at CIBC Wood Gundy's head office where he was responsible for the successful implementation of our industry-leading financial planning tools and software, and has helped create over 1,000 financial plans for Investment Advisors across the country.

Peter has obtained the Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation and completed a number of courses through the Canadian Securities Institute.

Jay joined the financial services industry in 2002, after practicing tax law for several years which included a brief stint with the Tax Policy Branch of the Federal Department of Finance in Ottawa. In this role, Jay worked to improve the efficiency of Canada's taxation system in the Capital Gains and Foreign Income Section. Jay has worked with leading financial institutions in the high and ultra-high net-worth space creating tax strategies to preserve and optimize wealth. Drawing on his experience with corporate and personal tax planning, tax litigation, and tax related dispute resolution, he works with his clients, his CIBC partners and their high-net-worth clients to find tax efficient estate and insurance solutions. Jay received his B.A. and LL.B. from the University of Manitoba where he won the Stikeman Elliot/Carswell National Tax Award for the highest aggregate grades in taxation courses. He has been called to the bar in both Ontario and Manitoba.
